Everyones been talking about Rogue Legacy, the new side-scrolling roguelike from Cellar Door Games, and there isnt much for me to add except that. The art uses heavy shading and all animations are done using stepping techniques to keep the familiar RL look and feel. The sequel features 2.5D stylings, with 3D characters against hand-drawn backdrops. The upcoming sequel to Rogue Legacy, a standout indie rogue-lite from 2013, was initially released into early access back in August 2020, with a final release promised sometime in the future. There are many challenges that come with taking something like the original Rogue Legacy and making it bigger, so to learn about that, as well as the new Drifting Worlds update, we spoke with Cellar Door Games co-founder Teddy Lee. We’re taking a whole new artistic approach to Rogue Legacy 2. Cellar Door Games announces the release date for Rogue Legacy 2, after almost two years of the upcoming rogue-lite remaining in early access. This latest port is called Rogue Legacy: Wanderer Edition, and it contains all post-launch DLC and updates for the original PC and console versions. Even before its release, the team has already aimed much higher with the sequel, adding new classes, new mysteries, and a much grander world to explore. Rogue Legacy, Cellar Door Games’ hugely inventive roguelike, has stealth launched onto the App Store, surprising and delighting fans of good games everywhere.
